Our Mission
Kitesurfing Academy is here to help you understand kitesurfing. Everyone should enjoy this beautiful sport. Our mission is to share our expertise with as many kitesurfing enthusiasts as possible and to grow our community
What We Stand For
Structure – Using 20 years of teaching experience (yes, our lead instructor has been a college Professor for 20 years) we’ve arranged all the information in a sequence where one piece leads to the next and this makes our program easily digestible for you. The art of teaching has a methodology.
Safety – We’ve learned the DOs and DON’Ts in kitesurfing by trying things out (yeah, the hard way) and we’ve been hurt many times in the process, yet we believe that you don’t have to take the same route. We want you to be safe, this is why we are focusing on the safety of kitesurfing so much.
Commitment – Learning anew can be daunting and you can lose your momentum, especially when the going gets tough. You may even quit altogether… We get that! KSA is here to keep you moving forward through all the steps until you start enjoying the ride and beyond.
Complete A-Z – When we teach we leave nothing out. We include everything there is to know, everything we know, and everything you need to know to start riding. We leave nothing out! “Buy THIS separately” is not a part of our philosophy, “all-inclusive” is
Support – We understand that having a partner in any new endeavor is awesome. We believe that “It’s better together”, and if it is difficult for you to find a companion to kitesurf together with we want to step in and be that companion for you
Saving your money – No, kitesurfing is not cheap, we know. You, probably do to by now. This is why we share all we know to help you gear up on a budget and learn to kitesurf without breaking the bank.
Saving Your Time – Truth: we did not learn quickly. It took us way much longer to start riding than it should have. And now we are here to expedite the process for you. We want you to learn to kitesurf as quickly as possible. (Well, in four days, as our program suggests)
Our History
We started teaching kitesurfing back in 2007. Seven years later, after teaching hundreds of students in person on a beach, we came to realize that first two to three sessions with every new student we are mostly talking, explaining the terminology, the theory of the wind, and the gear we use, but we are not practicing much. So, in we decided to create a primer course with all the theoretical stuff and we named it “Kitesurfing – 101” and launched it in 2014. In 2018 the domain KitesurfingAcademy.com became available and we grabbed it, renaming our video program. This program has helped thousands of new kitesurfers already (a few testimonials are down below) and we want you to benefit from our course as well.
Our Lead Coach
Hi there! You know, I became passionate about kitesurfing sometime around year 2000, I did not want to ride, I just enjoyed watching guys cruising around on a beach. There was no YouTube back then, so, I’d actually have to go to the kitesurfing beach to watch them. It looked somewhat complicated and nobody was offering any lessons back then, this is why I did not even consider learning back then. Yet a kitesurfing bug did bite me on the beach and I fell in love with this sport. 2003 – I bought my first trainer kite and the following season I was on the water, riding. Well, in reality I went through a lot of scuffs and blemishes, damaged equipment, faulty gear design since the industry was still new and many manufacturers were still trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t, and we were their Guiney pigs or Beta-testers, to put it nicely.
There are two things about me that stand out. I love to research and I am an educator by nature. I was blessed to learn to kitesurf with a group of like-minded enthusiasts and we shared this academic spirit of sharing information and helping each other progress. The energy of this spirit was almost palpable and we started to attract more and more beginners in our circle, helping them learn. Around this time my new nickname was coined by my creative students. Both, my students in college (yes, I’ve been a Professor in a private college in New York City for twenty years, guilty) and my kitesurfing students started to call me “Kitesurfing Professor”. And this was not because I have a Ph.D. in kitesurfing, this thing does not exist yet, but just because I love everything about kitesurfing and I was a Professor in school. Quickly I started teaching one-on-one as a side business, then in groups, and in a few years the Kitesurfing Academy was born online, and now I am here to help you learn to kitesurf and become a fanatical evangelist of this beautiful sport.
Cheers!
